joyent-mdata-client software package provides metadata client for use on SmartOS hyper-visor, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install joyent-mdata-client
joyent-mdata-client is installed in your system.
Make ensure the joyent-mdata-client package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep joyent-mdata-client *
You will get with joyent-mdata-client package name, version, architecture and description in a table
